Two Weeks Old!!!!

Jaxon is officially two weeks old! Wow the time is flying by! We have had a busy two weeks, Jaxon is sleeping really good, and we are very blessed with how well he is doing. He had his first bath this week, he was not super impressed. He likes to be toasty warm, so taking all his clothes off was not something he was very happy with! When we put the hot water on him, he was very happy to be warm again :)

Jax also had his first playdate this week. One of my dearest friends came over with her son for a little while so that I could take a shower. Jax wasn't quite sure about his little friend :)

One week old!!!!

Jaxon has been very busy in his first week of life! Our first outing was to Nana and Papa's house for Sunday lunch. Nana took care of Jax so we could sleep... looks like we weren't the only ones tired :)

It's hard to believe a week has already passed! It also feels like Jax has been part of our life forever! We look forward to each passing day that God gives us with him, so thankful that we have been chosen to be his parents.

Hospital Visitors...

We were blessed to have so many people come to visit us in the hospital...I didn't get pictures of everyone, so sorry if I didn't get one of you... Thank you to EVERYONE who came! We really appreciate your love and support!

Christmas Day...Auntie Coko and Auntie Rachel REALLY wanted to meet Jaxon before they had to go back to Chicago...so they thought if they pushed the pressure points in my feet and ankles, it would bring me into labor...it did, just 3 days after the fact :)

Here we are getting ready and prepped to head into the OR for a c-section....I had to have oxygen so that Jax would get more...

HE IS HERE!!!

The long awaited news....Jaxon Cole Remijn arrived on December 28, 2010 7:04 (I don't have pictures right now, my upload cord is at school :( so I will attach them when I get it).

The story of his arrival.....

It all started Monday night, I woke up around 11:00 and was having hard contractions (I now know the difference between "real" contractions and Braxton Hicks :) The contractions were painful but were not super regular. They started about ever 20 minutes, then went to 15 minutes, and then fluxuated between 10 and 20 minutes. I got up in the morning and took a nice long warm bath... I was supposed to meet one of the most wonderful families for lunch and time at the mall. I also had some last minute errands to run.... I ran those errands, met Rachael and the girls for lunch, and decided after lunch not to do some shopping but instead to come home...

I spent a lot of time talking to my mom, and she told me that her contractions were exactly the same as mine, very sporadic. She also told me that her water never broke, the doctors had to do that...I called Ian and we decided that when he got home from work we would head down to the hospital to see if things were progressing at all....

When I got home, I started picking things up, and slowly packing a bag for Ian....I was sitting on the ground eating a cookie, and talking to one of my friends....when GUSH.... a fountain of water poured out of me....I screetched a little and promptly hung up on my friend....quickly I called Ian and informed him that he had better come home....my water had broke...

We got to the hospital around 4:00, and headed up to labor and delivery. Everything looked really good, I was dialated to a 5 and the nurses were happy with my progression....They hooked me up to a moniter and began to moniter the baby's heart... here is where things went bad...Every time I had a contraction the baby's heart rate would drop REALLY low...it got as low as 13 at one point. They decided to put different heart moniters on the baby (by putting them in the uterus and one into his head). I was still progressing and was now dialated to a 7. I got my epidural (amazing thing!!!!!) and life was once again VERY pleasant....it was then that I had a contraction that was 2 1/2 minutes long....during this contraction, the baby's heart beat began dropping....and actually flat lined, they completely lost the heart rate. The doctor on call was headed in and told the nurses to prep me for a c-section. Every time I had a contraction, the cord was pressed against the baby's head, and he would loose oxygen. They decided they needed to get him out and quick! This was at 6:30.

They prepped Ian and I for a c-section, and off we went into an opperating room. They cut me open, and worked for quite awhile to get the baby out. He was already advanced into the birth canal, and since my birth canal is small they had a hard time getting him out. At 7:04 they pulled a little baby boy out, Jaxon Cole. He was very blue from lack of oxygen and EXTREMELY bruised from all of the pressure and pushing, but he had 10 fingers, 10 toes, and a great cry! Ian got to cut the umbilical cord, which was really neat!

They sewed me back up, informing me that because my uterus and birth canal are tiny, even if his cord had not been pinched, they still would have had to do a c-section. Also they said that I will not be able to have any children naturally, they will have to do a c-section in the future.

Jaxon weighed 6 pounds and 9 ounces and was 19 inches long. We are so incredibly thankful to God for the mercy and grace He showed to us, by sparing both my and little Jaxon's lives. Also incredibly thankful for the opportunity to be parents, a huge responsibility but so incredibly rewarding. We look forward to every day with Jaxon and pray that he may be a child of the King!

THE NURSERY :)

FINALLY....I have pictures of the nursery....sorry it has taken me SO long to get the pictures up...wow these days seem to be flying by! Only 20 more days until due day!! EEEKKK.... the walls of the nursery are a bright blue (carribean rain) and then I painted a palm tree, monkey and giraffe on one of the walls.... The bedding is polka dots (I'm sure you are all shocked that I would have polka dots....I refrained from stripes :) The bedding has baby animals on it....my lovely husband was great about all the handyman jobs I had for him...The nursery is ALMOST finished....just waiting for the glider/ottoman and the....BABY :)

The crib...I love it because it is one of the cribs that changes into a full size bed for baby Chou

The changing table....it is stocked and ready to go....I didn't take a picture of the closet...but my dad said it looked like Meijers....I used over 200 hangers already :) oops :)

So this post is REALLY late...since Ian's 5th birthday was in August...but I am FINALLY getting around to posting things....I guess that's what happens when you are sick from school :)
